Wrangler expands to China

Kontoor Brands Inc. said Thursday that it has expanded the Wrangler denim brand to China through a partnership with Tmall. Kontoor is also the parent company for the Lee denim brand. “One of Kontoor’s core strategic priorities includes expanding to new markets and geographies,” said Scott Baxter, Kontoor chief executive, in a statement. Additional products and marketing are coming in spring 2021. Kontoor has also been focused on expanding access to the Wrangler brand in the U.S., with product available in venues as broad as luxury department stores and rodeos. Kontoor stock is down 2.3% in Thursday trading but has gained 6.3% voer the last year. The benchmark S&P 500 index is up 16.4% for the past 12 months.
