Twitter makes moves to stop spread of election misinformation

/ / News

Twitter Inc. says it is taking steps to stop the spread of election misinformation — the latest social-media platform to do so. The company’s push is to protect “critical dialogue” on Twitter “from attempts – both foreign and domestic – to undermine it,” Twitter General Counsel Vijaya Gadde and Kayvon Beykpour, head of product, said in a blog post. Twitter is rolling out the changes in phases beginning next week. On Wednesday, Facebook Inc. said it would stop political ads in the U.S. for at least a week after polls close Nov. 3.
