President Donald Trump said Tuesday he’ll announce his Supreme Court nominee on Saturday. Writing on Twitter, Trump said the announcement on who he’ll nominate to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will take place at the White House. The president has previously said he’ll name a woman, and speculation has swirled around Amy Coney Barrett and Barbara Lagoa, two U.S. Court of Appeals judges. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pushing ahead with plans for a confirmation vote, even as Democrats denounce his move as hypocritical. The Kentucky Republican refused to call hearings for President Barack Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland, 237 days before the 2016 election.
