Tesla’s stock set to extend surge toward another record, but pares earlier premarket gains

Shares of Tesla Inc. rallied 3.2% in premarket trading Tuesday, providing a head start for a fifth-straight gain and third-straight record close, but has pared earlier gains of as much as 5.5%. The stock traded above the $1,900 level earlier in the premarket before pulling back; the all-time intraday high seen during regular session hours was $1,845.86 on Monday. Tuesday’s early gains come after the stock rocketed 33.6% over the past four sessions, since the electric vehicle maker announced a 5-for-1 stock split. The stock has soared more than fourfold (up 338.8%) year to date through Monday, while the S&P 500 has gained 4.7%.
