Tesco says it will create 16,000 permanent jobs for online business

U.K. supermarket operator Tesco said it plans to create 16,000 new permanent roles to support its online business. The jobs will include 10,000 pickers to assemble customer orders, 3,000 drivers, and a variety of other roles. Tesco said it will first offer the jobs to those who joined on a temporary basis. Before the pandemic, around 9% of Tesco’s sales were online. The figure is now more than 16% of sales, the company said.
