Stocks opened with small losses and traded near unchanged in early action Thursday after data showed a surprising drop in first-time claims for unemployment benefits. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 9 points, or less than 0.1%,at 27.210 while the S&P 500 was off 0.1% at 3,324. The Nasdaq Composite was off 0.1% at 10,982.
