Stocks lost ground Monday, pulling back from record territory but ending well off session lows, as investors weighed the impact of potential impeachment proceedings against President Trump. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell around 89 points, or 0.3%, to finish near 31,009, according to preliminary figures, after dropping more than 300 points at the low for the day. The S&P 500 gave up around 25 points, or 0.7%, to settle near 3,800, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 165 points, or 1.3%, to end around 13,036. Analysts said concerns that impeachment proceedings could slow efforts toward another round of aid spending were a possible factor in Monday’s weakness.
