S&P 500 opens at all-time high as investors remain optimistic on stimulus prospects

Stocks opened higher Thursday, with investors appearing to brush off a rise in first-time jobless claims to focus on prospects for a $900 billion economic relief package as talks continued on Capitol Hill. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 151 points, or 0.5%, at 30,309. The S&P 500 hit an intraday record as stocks opened and was was up 0.6% at 3,722. The Nasdaq Composite was up 0.6% near 12,729, building on Wednesday’s record close.
