Roku says its active account metric has topped 50 million for the first time

Roku Inc. said Wednesday that it expects to report 51.2 million active accounts for its fourth quarter, which would mark the first period in which Roku’s active-account numbers exceeded 50 million. Analysts surveyed by FactSet were expecting 50.3 million active accounts for the quarter. Roku also disclosed its expectation that Roku users streamed about 17 billion hours of content in the fourth quarter. Analysts surveyed by FactSet were modeling 16.3 billion streaming hours. Roku will deliver a fuller set of metrics in its fourth-quarter earnings report in February. Roku shares are off about 2% in Wednesday morning trading. The stock has gained 60% over the past three months as the S&P 500 has risen 11%.
