Pound jumps on report stating trade deal ‘imminent’

The British pound snapped higher Friday after a Reuters report, citing an unnamed European Union official, that a trade pact between the European Union and the U.K. was “imminent.” The pound traded as high as $1.3493, from $1.3450 on Thursday. The report said a trade deal could come by the end of the weekend if there’s no last-minute breakdown.
