Exxon planning to increase carbon emissions, report says

Exxon Mobil Corp. is planning to increase annual carbon-dioxide emissions, Bloomberg said Monday citing an analysis of leaked internal documents. Exxon’s assessment of its $210 billion long-term investment plan shows yearly emissions rising 17% by 2025, Bloomberg said, citing the documents. Exxon never publicly disclosed forecasts for its emissions. Shares of Exxon rose more than 1% on Monday, alongside other major energy companies and the broader stock market. The company has gained 52% this year, compared with an advance around 5% for the S&P 500 index.
