Chipmaker ETFs fall on Intel’s worst day in 3 months

Semiconductor exchange-traded funds underperformed the broader market Friday after Intel on Thursday missed expectations for its sales outlook and said both profit and revenue had declined in the most recent quarter. Intel shares were down nearly 11% at midday, its worst showing since July 24, dragging the VanEck Vectors Semiconductor ETF , with nearly 6% of its portfolio invested in Intel, down 0.6%. The iShares PHLX Semiconductor ETF , which has 8% of its holdings allocated to the company, was down 0.7%. Intel is a part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average , which was down 0.3%. The broader stock market, as measured by the S&P 500 , was almost unchanged.
