: Airbnb files for initial public offering

Home-rental company Airbnb Inc. announced Wednesday afternoon that it has confidentially filed for an initial public offering. The highly valued startup has faced difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic, but said in a news release after trading closed Wednesday that it had filed a draft registration statement for an IPO with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Executives had previously considered a direct listing for publicly listing the company’s stock, according to reports.
